only with truth and peace, can we ever live in harmony
I ask myself, “What does it mean to be in the world but not of it?”.
There comes a moment when what you’ve known no longer seems to make sense.
The world as you knew it suddenly dissembles and there you find yourself trying to piece it back together again in a way that brings you closer to truth and peace.
Spirituality has always been a quest for just that — truth and peace.
But you have to find your own. Your own truth; your own peace. It can’t be a replica of someone else’s. It can’t be sourced in a book no matter how coveted the text.
The truth must arise from within you as a result of your life experiences that are as unique as your fingerprint.
Here is what spirituality has taught me so far:
Since I am here, I must be with purpose.
Spirituality is not about reclusion but rather inclusivity. How deeply can I immerse myself in the world and bear the fire of life without getting burned? And if life will have it that I am burned, how quickly can I tend to my healing without being scarred? And if life will have it that I am scarred, how can I see the burning, the burn, and the scar as essential parts of a life well-lived, exemplary of great courage?
I can’t live in fear forever; I must have great courage.
To fear less and love more.
To contemplate: how deeply can I immerse myself in the world with delicate attention to the truth of my being? How can I stand upright in my truth when I know it? How clearly can I hear someone else’s truth when it challenges my own?
I am no better or worse than another. I just am. Thank you to everyone who has ever loved me.
To see all sentient beings inside of my heart. To harm no one, nothing.
Just be a good person. A good person is virtuous. They uphold a high moral standard in remembrance of others. They know life isn’t just about themselves. They know it’s about being selfless and contributing their existence toward the greater good. They refrain from acting upon a desire if it means not harming someone or something else. They orient themselves toward the light; they shine the light of peace on both you and me. A good person is generous, considerate, loving, patient, kind, and forgiving.
I am a sensitive being so I need to be mindful about who and what I let in, and what I give myself to. Always choose what is healthy for the mind, body, and spirit even if it’s uncomfortable. It will make life so much easier in the longrun.
It’s okay to enjoy the material of the world, but I must be wise enough to not overvalue it. The material brings me comfort, but not peace. There’s a difference.
I don’t want to conform; I want to be a leader. The greatest minds weren’t great because they were like everyone else; they were great because they created a way that no one else did. Honor your heart. Honor your truth. Honor your peace.
God dwells within me as me. I am an equal part of this world and I must always remember my power to create it.
The dharma is about bringing forward the spiritual subtleties into the density of the common world.
The spiritual subtleties will always have a place here. When properly integrated, they will enhance and uplift humanity. Spirituality will help human beings know their truth and know their peace.
Only with truth and peace, can we ever live in harmony.
